Brisbane based Aus Ships Group has recently inked a deal to design, build and
demonstrate what is set to be Australia’s first electric, zero emission, fully
accessible passenger catamaran.

As market leaders in the design and construction of conventional and lower
emission high speed passenger catamarans, this project is an evolutionary
progression toward electrification and the target of zero emissions.

The project will develop a fully functional and accessible electric passenger ferry
in accordance with Australian and International commercial vessel standards for
sheltered water operations in Australia.

The vessel will carry in excess of 50 passengers, be designed and developed by
the in-house design studio and built at the group’s Brisbane shipyard with the use
of solar electricity and low emission materials. Construction will commence in
2025 with launch, commissioning and demonstration planned for late 2026.

The Aus Ships Group is committed to providing high quality, professional and
commercially competitive and environmentally sustainable one stop solutions to
the maritime industry, both domestically and internationally.

“This next step taking our concept from the drawing board to the shipyard and
the water will provide our team, our clients and the industry with the learnings
and confidence required to commit to electrification in order to achieve low and
zero emissions marine transportation solutions for the future”

“This project is being realized with support from the Australian Government
through the Australia-Singapore Low-Emissions Technologies Initiative for
Maritime and Port Operations, of which we are honored to be a part” said the
Group’s Director, Tommy Ericson.
