The New South Wales Police Force of Australia recently took delivery of three new patrol vessels designed and built by Queensland based Norman R. Wright and Sons (NRW).

NRW’s highly capable and proven 12m XLW Patrol Class design was chosen to replace an existing ageing fleet. The rugged vessels are built to a 5g bottom loading in advanced composites using E-glass/carbon, epoxy and foam cores, with structure approved to DNV Patrol S classification. For this series, the 12m XLW has been coupled with inboard diesel Volvo IPS propulsion, further raising the bar for the XLW’s best in class efficiency, range, manoeuvrability, and position holding capability.

The vessels were recently commissioned into service at a ceremony at Marine Area Command, Balmain.
